JULY 2014

THE YELLING LADY!!!!!!

Hi Family!!!                                                                  7/28/14

So just a little story to start off every week at correlation (meeting with the ward mission leader and talk about our investigators) the bishop gives us a list of "Lost Sheep" to try to find that week. Most of them we never actually meet because they aren't home, they've moved, or they actually answer the phone and tell us they don't want contact.     So we had one that lived really close to one of our appointments this week so we decided we would stop by the house on our way, bad idea, we rang the doorbell and no one answered so we rang it again just to be safe because that's what we always do. Next thing we know this lady opens the door and she is just ticked. I mean she was so mad! She started yelling at us, using a lot of words that I can't repeat; threatening to call the cops on us for harassment. She said something along the lines of "What kind of person doesn't get the hint and rings the doorbell twice" just so you know that would be me...so I guess I had my first experience with someone really yelling at me...  Oh and there was a guy sitting in his van across the street that watched the whole thing and he was just dying. We let him know he probably didn't want to go to that house anytime soon...ha ha.  It
was kind of scary at first but I thought it was pretty funny afterwards, but don't worry we made sure to tell the Bishop that it would probably be wise to not send missionaries there again. Other than that this week has been really great!

I'm so grateful that Heavenly Father is trusting us enough to teach these incredible people. I KNOW that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers. We have been praying so much that Heavenly Father would help us find those who are prepared and he has definitely done that these past few weeks! I love this work so much and I wouldn't trade being out here for anything! Love you all and miss you!!!

On top of it all

HELLO, HELLO!

Hi Friends and Family!!                                                       7/21/14

We've just had an incredible week!! We passed a couple of our investigators (Greg and Eric) over to the Elders because they aren't progressing much with us and we feel like they would overall connect better with the Elders. So this week started out kind of rough because we realized that we didn't have much of a teaching pool anymore and none of the people we have been finding have become new investigators. We've been going through our potentials and former's and just calling and trying to contact people but nothing has been coming from it. I have to say my patience and endurance was really tried this week... but of course the Lord blessed us for our efforts and we saw so many miracles by the end of the week!!

We had a referral for someone who lived in the arboretum but because the buses don't go there we've struggled getting there to contact them. We ended up riding our bikes (which was a grand total of 9 miles) on Saturday and she was home! Her name is Stefanie. It was cool cause i just felt such a strong connection to her as soon as I met her. She’s incredible! Her daughter is a member in Montana and actually referred her to us. Stefanie's husband recently passed away and she is really struggling with it. She keeps a picture of her "honey" with her eve

rywhere she goes. It’s so adorable! We invited her to a baptism that was happening that day and she came! She told us how grateful she was for us and that she felt so much peace and comfort while she was there. She came to church yesterday as well and we will be seeing her again on Tuesday! We are so excited to teach her and help her find the peace and comfort that she needs through this gospel!

At the end of the week we had 3 new investigators and our teaching pool has really increased! I know that this is definitely the Lord creating miracles and I am so grateful that he is!! This is truly the Lords work and it can't go forth without him!! I love being a part of it!!! Love you all and miss you!!

ANOTHER TRANSFER DONE

Madison West Zone July 2014

Hi Family and Friends!!                                                July 14, 2014

Wow I can't believe another transfer has already passed!! It’s so crazy to me how fast time goes by! So I'm staying here in Madison with Sister Brewster for another transfer! I'm super excited to stay I know that we will see many miracles together this transfer!

This week was definitely an incredible week! Zone Training Meeting was really great and so needed! I loved the focus and emphases on obedience. There is so much work to be done here in Madison but we can't do it alone. In order for this work to progress we have to have Gods help. I think a huge part of showing God that we want his help and are ready for it is by being obedient. By obeying we show him that we love him. If we aren't doing what he's asked of us how can we expect him to do what we are asking of him? I guess I'm just really grateful that was a big part of our Zone Training this Month. I'm also really excited about the goal of having one baptism in every area of our Mission before the October General Conference. I know without a doubt in my heart that this is completely possible as we rely on the Lord and seek his guidance in everything. Sister Brewster and I have decided to involve the members of our ward with this goal as well and have asked them at our dinner appointments to pray for baptisms in the area. We think that it is a great start to get them more excited and involved with the work.

We had our lesson with Nichole this week in one of the ward member’s home and it was a really great lesson! We talked about temples. The spirit was so strong and Nichole told us that she has a desire to make it to the temple someday. She knows that all of this will be great to have in her life and she wants it, she just wants to have it because she knows it’s true. She wants to have that conversion so that when things get hard she can rely on that and not just fall away. She's doing everything right, coming to church, reading from the Book of Mormon daily, and praying to know it’s true. We've made it a goal to have her lessons in more member’s homes and just have members become really involved with her. We hope that she will start to recognize that this is where she belongs and feel at home here. I'm definitely very grateful that I get to stay for one more transfer to help her get that much closer!

Our investigator Tim's lesson was really good as well. We are really trying to find a family that can get to know him and his wife on a friendship basis and really build a relationship with them. We hope that this will help his wife to see that this is not a bad thing. We had James and Darnella's whole family there our lesson finally and it was so awesome. It was like they were a completely different family all of a sudden. Darnella came to church yesterday and James told us that he is going to change his work schedule so that he can be there next week! We are so excited to be meeting with them again!

I love being a missionary and I love this work! It's truly the best decision I've ever made! Love you all and miss you!!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!!
                                                                              7/7/14
Hello Family and Friends!!!
How was your 4th of July?! I hope it was great! I'm so grateful to be lucky enough to live here and have our religious freedom! And I'm so grateful that our Heavenly Father made it possible for us to have those freedoms. It’s neat when you think about all the events that had to happen in order for the Restoration to happen and the birth of our great nation is truly a huge part of that. Without that religious freedom Joseph Smith would not have been able to Restore the church and we would not be blessed enough to be a part of it today. I am truly grateful for those events that led to us being able to have this knowledge today!

This week has been good but it's also been hard. Some good things was that our ward had a ward breakfast on the 4th of July and both Tim and Greg were able to come to that and some of the members did a great job fellow-shipping them; sadly Tim's wife did not come so we are still trying to figure out a way for her to feel comfortable enough to meet people in the ward. We know that he is ready and just really hope that the ward members can help his wife see that this is not a bad thing.

We are still working with Nichole and trying to help her get to baptism. She still doesn't feel like she has received and answer that the Book of Mormon is true or that Joseph Smith was a true Prophet. We definitely feel like she's closer but its slow progression. We both feel like once she makes the decision things will start to fall in place and she will recognize that she knows it’s true.

This week has been somewhat hard because we were not able to hand out our goal of 20 Book of Mormons. However, we were still able to hand out 13. It’s hard because we both feel like we are working very hard trying to find people to teach and working hard to help our investigators progress and make it to baptism, but things just don't seem to be happening. We came together as a District and have tried to come up with ways to get the members more involved with the missionary work. I'm excited to work hard to get the members more excited about the missionary work! Don't be lame members please!! Help the missionaries out who are serving around you! Member missionary work is so important and makes such a difference!!

I love you all and miss ya!!  I love being a missionary and I’m excited to see work move forward in this area!

Love,
Sister Hunter
