OCTOBER 2014

Hope the only ghost that haunts you is the Holy Ghost

HALLOWEEN

Hello!!                                                                                               10/27/14

Adam is doing great! He received a calling yesterday and our Branch President told us yesterday that he is starting to work with Adam so he can be ready to receive the Aaronic Priesthood! Before coming on my mission I always just envisioned that seeing your investigator get baptized would be the greatest thing ever and it is, but seeing them grow in the church and take the steps to becoming and active lifetime member of the church is just as exciting! Adam even had a missionary experience this past week. He talked with a friend on Facebook about how happy he has been since he started learning about The True Church and was baptized. His friend told him that she's seen a huge difference in him and would love to learn more about the church. He's been so excited about it! It's so neat to see how he is starting to share this with the people he cares about! I hope that you are all doing the same thing! Don't hold back something that has brought you so much happiness in your life! Share it with those around you! People don't know where to find it, they need you to show them! You may not see the fruits of you labors right away, you may not even get to see it in this life, but I can promise you that your efforts will make a difference! Missionary Work is absolutely incredible and so many blessings come from being a part of it!

We've had another really great week! We've been struggling the past few weeks to have good lessons with Jon but this week we had a really great one! He told us a while ago that he still has lots of questions, but that he didn't want to talk about them with us. He said that we should be able to answer them without him telling us. I'll tell you what I have been praying like crazy that Heavenly Father would help us to know what we need to teach and share with him that might answer some more of his questions. We both felt very strongly about watching President Monson's talk from the Priesthood session "Guided Safely Home". So we did just that and then we talked about receiving answers to our questions not only through the scriptures and praying, but also from the Prophets and people around us. The spirit was SOOO strong! At the end Jon told us that some more of his questions were answered! I know that Heavenly Father made that possible! That lesson was completely led by the spirit and I'm so grateful for that! I would be completely lost as a missionary without the spirit! He's pretty much my best friend, without him none of this would be possible!

So we've had a huge emphasis lately in our mission about becoming a more consecrated mission. Our AP's sent us this quote and I really like it so I wanted to share it with you all. It has helped me focus more on putting my life in the hands of the Lord. It says, “A basketball in my hands is worth about $20.99. A basketball in the hands of LeBron James is worth $19 million per year; it depends on whose hands it's in. A tennis racket in my hands is worth about $17.00. A tennis racket in the hands of Serena Williams is worth about $20 million per year; it depends in whose hands it's in. A baseball in my hands is worth about $3.00. A baseball in the hands of Derek Jeter is worth about $35 million per year; it depends on whose hands it's in. Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in my hands would make a few fish sandwiches. Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in the Savior's hands will feed 5000 people until they're full, and still leave 12 baskets leftover; it depends on whose hands they're in. Some nails in my hands are worth about 5 cents. Some nails in the Savior's hands will provide eternal salvation for each person who has ever lived on this earth, and all of Heavenly Father's children. It depends on whose hands they're in. When we put our lives in the hands of the Savior, we can achieve infinitely more than we ever could on our own. It depends on whose hands they're in.”

Consecration is not easy and it is a constant battle every day. But I know that we can become consecrated though the atonement of Jesus Christ. He is always outstretched towards us ready to help us in our righteous desires. I know that as we put our lives in the hands of Jesus Christ we will see miracles!

I love you all and miss you tons! I love this work and I know it’s the work of The Lord! Happy Halloween and I hope you have a great week!

WHAT A WEEK!!!

Hi Family!!                                                                               10/20/14

Well we've had quite the week but it’s been great of course! Adam got confirmed yesterday so he is officially a member of The True Church!!

The spirit was so strong!! I don't think Adam quite realized how different he was really going to feel once he received the Gift of the Holy Ghost. He got a little emotional and teared up afterwards. It’s so neat to see people recognize the difference between the power of the Holy Ghost and actually having the Gift of the Holy Ghost and having that constant companion with you. I'm so grateful to have that in my life. That as long as I live worthily of it I can literally have a member of the Godhead with me at all times. THAT’S INCREDIBLE!!!! I don't think I ever realized how amazing that really was until coming on my mission. I recognize how much I took that for granted now and it makes me want to be better and always live worthily of having the Holy Ghost with me! Not only living worthily of it but taking advantage of it, listening to its promptings and acting on them. I think if we don't listen and act on those promptings eventually they will stop coming. I don't want that to happen and I would hope that you don't either so always live worthy to have the Holy Ghost with you!

Fall in Wisconsin is beautiful
Fall 2014

So last Monday we ended up in the ER with a less active. She has seizures and called us to come over because she wasn't feeling well. We got there and then the ambulance showed up. It was crazy but she asked us to come to the hospital and to have the Elders come give her a blessing. She's doing great and is fine now but it was scary in the moment. I realized I haven't been in the room for a blessing of healing in a really long time, but it was an incredible experience. The Priesthood is amazing!! The spirit was so strong as the Elders gave her that blessing and it was just so peaceful in the room. There's no way that I could deny the power that was there. I'm so grateful for you men who hold the priesthood! Thank you for living worthily of it and blessing the lives of others!

Meet the Mormons was so good!! If you haven't gone to see it go!! It's a great movie whether you're a member or not. These people have incredible stories and the church did a great job capturing that!

So one more thing for the week that was amazing! Brandon, the less active we've been working with officially got work off on Sundays! He came to church yesterday and he will be coming regularly from now on! Also we met with him this week and he told us that after watching Meet the Mormons and receiving a priesthood blessing this past week, he's decided that he's not only working hard to get the priesthood back but that he wants to become worthy to serve a full time mission! He's completely done smoking Hookah and is coming to church again! Heavenly Father is amazing and is just working so many miracles in Brandon's life! I'm so grateful that I've been able to watch these changes happen over the time I've been here. Serving a mission is the best decision I've ever made and I've honestly never been happier! I love this gospel soooo much and I love being able to share it with others!

I love you all and miss you tons! Hope you have a great week!!

Love,

  • BAPTISM!!!!!!

Hi Family!!                                                                                  10/13/14

This week has been incredible because ADAM GOT BAPTIZED YESTERDAY!!!!! It was kind of crazy and stressful leading up to it though. It was supposed to be on Saturday and then the Branch President found out he had a conflict so he we changed it to Sunday. Then they changed who was going to baptize him, but apparently the person they chose didn't know/didn't feel comfortable doing it, so Sunday morning we didn't actually know who was baptizing him. But it’s okay because everything worked out and he was able to be baptized and it was SOOO GREAT!! The spirit was so strong and it was incredible to see him finally make that covenant with God.
ADAM GOT BAPTIZED!!!!!

I'm so grateful Heavenly Father has allowed me to be a part of helping Adam get ready for baptism. It’s been incredible to see how he has changed as he's learned more about the gospel and accepted it into his life. It's funny it wasn't until he was like in the water actually being baptized that it became real, even though I knew everything was going to work out and that he was going to get baptized. I felt Heavenly Fathers love for him so strong! It’s hard to describe but it was amazing!

Have you guys seen Meet the Mormons yet?! We get to see it as a Zone on Wednesday and I'm super excited!! Huge miracle!! They are only showing it places where they got enough requests for it and there were enough requests that they are showing it here in Appleton! Just so you know Wisconsin has very very few members. There's only 68 congregations in all of Wisconsin but the members worked really hard and got a showing of here! We missionaries won’t be watching it at the theaters obviously but we get to watch it at our Zone Training Meeting so I'm really excited. But you should all go see it!! Everyone we've talked to have said it’s amazing so don't miss out on it!

Fall in Wisconsin.....BEAUTIFUL

So as a mission we are all reading the Book of Mormon before Christmas as our Christmas gift to our Savior. We are marking things about Christ and his Atonement in red and the things we need to do to access that Atonement in green. I think this is a really neat challenge and I'm so excited to be doing it. I know that it is going to unite us more as a mission and bring us closer to our Savior Jesus Christ. I'd like to invite you to take this challenge yourself and read the Book of Mormon as your Christmas gift to our Savior. I know that by doing so you will gain an even stronger testimony of your Savior and the sacrifice he has made for you! I love my Savior! I know he lived and died for not only me but for each of you!

He's already suffered and atoned for our sins and our mistakes, we just have to be the ones to allow what he has done to take action in our lives. Don't forget to let him be in your life! I know that Christ's true church is on the earth again and it's changing people’s lives!! I love you all and miss you! I hope you have a great week!

Spiritual Overload

Hello Everyone!!                                                    10/6/14

So for starters another transfer has flown by!! I can't believe how fast time keeps going by!   Sister Peel and I are staying together for another transfer which I'm really excited about!

We get along so well and work really well together so I'm glad we still get to for another transfer!  Plus Adam's baptism is this weekend so I'm really glad we get to still be together for that!!
Adam is doing great still. He came to the church and watched conference and he went to the priesthood session on Saturday. He really liked it and still wants to be baptized on Saturday so things are good! His baptism interview is on Wednesday so we're praying everything goes well there and then he's all set to be baptized on Saturday! Everything should go well but prayers would definitely be appreciated!

The Distinct

Our investigator George, who has been investigating for like 5 years, came to watch both sessions on Sunday. George never ceases to amaze me. He has such a strong testimony and always teaches me something new. A member asked him when he is going to get baptized. He told them he doesn't have a date but he's thinking it will be soon! We're not sure how soon since he's going on 5 years now but we're really hoping and praying that he will be willing to set a date for some time in the next few months! He knows it’s true he just needs to act. That's probably one of the hardest things as a missionary. You wish you could just put your knowledge in their head so they'd understand how important it is to act and not put it off, but then you have to remember that God gave us our agency for a reason, and this work is done according to God's timing. We just have to be patient and trust in God. He sees the bigger picture and he knows what he's doing.

Smile Pretty!!!!

So how was everyone's conference weekend?! I hope it was good and that you were able to watch or listen to at least some of conference! All of the talks were so good! By the end it was kind of like I'd had a spiritual overload, but it was so great! One talk that really stuck out to me was Neil L. Anderson's talk on the Prophet Joseph Smith and gaining a testimony of him.

I loved his analogy of the spiritual oxygen mask and how on airplanes they always tell you to put your mask on first before you help those around you. We won’t be of any help to those around us if our own faith and testimony are not firmly in place. He said "now is the time to adjust your spiritual oxygen mask." That made me really think about whether or not my spiritual oxygen mask is fully on. Is my Testimony firmly in place so that I can truly help those around me? He invited us in his talk to study the Prophet Joseph Smith so that we can gain that testimony. "Spiritual questions deserve spiritual answers!" I've decided to act on his invitation and read Joseph Smith History and ask my Heavenly Father again if he truly was a prophet. I think we can never ask too many times to know and it’s always good to reconfirm the things we do know. I invite you to adjust your spiritual mask Strengthen yourself so that you can strengthen those around you! And if you're struggling with your testimony in an area study it out and ask Heavenly Father. I know that he will answer you! You are a child of God and he loves you!! I love you all and miss you tons!

Love,

Sister Kendra Hunter
